JOB DUTIES:
The Instructor reports to the Chair of Business and Technology. The instructor will be responsible for developing student skills, knowledge, and attitudes commensurate to the goals of the program and effectively using materials and equipment to meet goals. A regular course load is 15 credit hours per semester and includes day and evening classes.  Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: provides classroom teaching and lab instruction of Computer Information Technology classes; supplies professional leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum; assists with advising and recruiting students; and works with the various administrative functions of both the college and the prison system. Performs other related work as assigned.

REQUIRES:
A.A.S. or Bachelors degree in computer-related discipline. Masters degree preferred. Current industry experience and prior teaching experience is preferred. Strong skills in Microsoft Office and Windows operating systems in order to teach general and specialized courses within the CIS curriculum. C++ programming knowledge is a plus.  Candidates with a knowledge base in any of the following skills sets will be given preference: computer programming and scripting languages; game development, the game design process, knowledge of game engines; web development; 2D and/or 3D graphics, working knowledge of animation, and/or audio/visual design and implementation. Ability to understand the teaching and evaluation methodologies used in the total instructional process. Ability to deal with students, faculty, and staff members in professional manner. Must demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of students from diverse backgrounds. Ability to plan, schedule, and manage projects and assignments. Ability to establish effective working relationships with others. Ability to clearly communicate and promote campus image. Must comply with established college rules and procedures. This position is security sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, which authorized the employer to obtain criminal history record information.
